NON WHITE BABY
Limited Giclée Print Edition
Originally painted in 2014, NON WHITE BABY emerges from Daniel Ruanova’s ongoing series Heráldica Para La Frontera Norte (H.P.L.F.N.), a project that reformulates the visual logic of heraldry to confront the symbolic economies of race, privilege, and power along the northern Mexican border. Within this work, Ruanova pushes his language of layered abstraction and visual collision toward a pointed critique of representation and exclusion.
The composition functions as both shield and mirror — a dense field where color, gesture, and irony destabilize fixed notions of identity. Through its fractured geometry and flashes of popular culture metaphors, NON WHITE BABY questions who is granted visibility and who remains the invisible subject of contemporary image-making.
Rendered as a small-to-mid–format giclée print, the work translates Ruanova’s large-scale studio practice into an edition that preserves the tactile urgency and conceptual precision of the original. Printed with archival pigments on textured matte fine art paper (9 oz / 305 gsm), each edition measures 28 × 18 inches (71 x 46 cm), signed, certified, and released directly from the artist’s studio.
This edition of 25 prints extends Ruanova’s critical investigation into borders, belonging, and the aesthetics of resistance — offering a precise, collectible encounter with one of his most emblematic visual statements.
